Shark Tank

The postman always rings...and rings...and rings...

When one company takes over another, this sysadmin pilot fish is forced to migrate networks -- and it hasn't gone smoothly.

"The entire migration has been full of hurdles -- one of them being that our e-mail was down when we came in this morning," fish says. "Thankfully, I was able to rectify the situation quickly."

However, the fix requires fish to call her local admins at each of the company's five divisions, and have them change account settings in Microsoft Outlook.

After they've changed their own settings, they must change each user in their division.

And at the end of the instructions for each local admin, fish asks them to send her a test e-mail to verify that they've completed the changes correctly before they begin changes on all the users.

"I found it amusing that one of the local admins wrote that last piece into her notes," says fish. "She proceeded to tell every single user to send me a test e-mail at the end of their configuration changes.

"So I will now continue to receive many e-mails with the subject 'test' all day on my Friday. Thank goodness it's the weekend!"
