The Security Sector

We just got used to the paper recycling bin

Now that's what I consider cool. Paper that you can use again and again. When I heard about this, I have to say, I wasn't surprised that it was the folks over at Xerox who funded the research that came up with this timely idea.

The principal driving idea behind this paper is that printed text is "erased" within 24 hours after printing. This article "Xerox touts erasable paper, smart documents" by Agam Shah points out that the paper can be reused up to 100 times!

While in today's atmosphere of going (and keeping) green, this paper would seem to be a no brainer from a recycling standpoint, the article justly points out that back in the 70s lots of us thought we were headed to become a paperless society (eventually putting all our data on floppy disks). Perhaps the notion of cost-effective, reusable paper is a longer way off than it seems.
