Web 2.0 live election day coverage
Okay, so you have bookmarked all the sites I listed in two previous blog entries, right? (I had a top ten list and 20 lesser known sites.) And you found a few more using this recent Computerworld story? Do you have the popcorn ready, and did you vote? Good. Now it is time to sit back with a laptop and watch your favorite news channel (I'm stuck with CNN because it's the only one I get in HD) and peruse these liveblogs and Web 2.0 sites.
Google Election Map
Google is now running an election map which shows how each state is voting. Pins quickly show how states are voting -- the larger the pin, the more voters have picked that candidate.
TwitterVoteReport.com
TwitterVoteReport.com aggregates voter responses from Twitter -- when I wrote this, the site was down -- likely due to a deluge of traffic.
Steve Clemons
A liveblog at Huffington Post promises to be really active all day and into the wee hours of the night. So far, it has been reporting about long lines at polling places.
Time
Time magazine has a great liveblog with a team of writers. It's active right now, but I imagine it will get going at a faster speed by tonight.
Fox News Election Map
Fox News now has an election map that is set to fill in as the states start reporting their polling results. You can click on any state to see county-by-county votes. Filters for zip code, senate, house, and governor help you find specific results. The map uses Flash 9.
Computerworld's Todd Weiss
Our own blogger Todd R. Weiss has a live blog running right now. It is mostly reporting on e-voting right now on election day in the early afternoon.
BBC Live blog
The BBC is running a live blog of the election. It incorporates tweets from real voters.
MySpace
MySpace has a live election page up with video streaming from MSNBC, aids for finding your polling location, and information about the candidates.
Britannica Online
Britannica will host a live blog discussion starting tonight at 7PM central with comments from their panel of experts.
If you know of any other liveblogs or Web 2.0 sites with live coverage, please post in comments.
