Windows XP drivers for Everex CloudBook

Everex may not be planning to install Windows XP on its upcoming CloudBook ultraportable PC, but it does plan make XP drivers available for those that want to do it themselves, according to Web site, CloudBooker.

CloudBooker is apparently being developed by at least one of the same people behind the popular eeeuser.com site.

That person, 'ant', posted Thursday that he/she had gotten wind of this news from Everex's US-based director of marketing, Paul Kim (someone I've also communicated with in the past about Everex's delayed release of the CloudBook as well as its post-CloudBook plans).

I don't think this is a prelude to Everex caving into the admitted "pressure" Kim said it is feeling from Microsoft to pre-install Windows on the machine, easy to do because of the CloudBook's 30 GB hard drive.

Kim had said earlier that Everex is ideologically committed to open-source and that XP would also raise the price too high.

FYI, the latest is that the CloudBook may now be available Feb. 15 at WalMart.com and ZaReason.com.
