Shark Tank

You asked for it

Phone company tech shows up at this business to install two new high-availability routers, replacing a single older model, says a pilot fish in the know.

"The plan was to leave the old router in place as backup, to be removed after 60 days," fish says. "The office and all 300 users were soon up on the new routers."

Flash forward two months, and it's time to decommission the old router. On the appointed day, the very same tech shows up, walks past all 300 users and proceeds to the switch room.

But there's one problem: The offshore group responsible for creating the decommissioning order has made a tiny little mistake.

And the tech, following his order to the letter, proceeds to decom the two new routers.

Reports fish: "Later that evening, when the configurations and circuit connections were reapplied and the routers were back up, tech was informed that he's banned from that customer site -- for life."
